Our Hobbit-hole inspired gingerbread house

Our Hobbit-hole inspired gingerbread house

“In a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit.”

Our family, mostly my son and I, had fun making this hobbit inspired gingerbread house today. We had plans to spend the day decorating the house and then later on we would go to see The Desolation of Smaug. The movie didn’t work out as my littlest one is under the weather, but we had a lot of fun with the gingerbread house!

It was the first time I have ever tried making gingerbread from scratch. I used a basic recipe and made royal icing. I did not have the patience to figure out how to make the house more rounded like a hobbit hole, but I thought it turned out cute anyway!
